just a little note saying that osu was a hit at nceca this year.

our 08 zine "adventures in furaway lands" SOLD OUT.

all of friday we were working with one last desk copy!

oh and what's this? some of the osu grads were featured in the nceca juried student show?
a huge congrats to our very own GMD who took the Graduate Award for Excellence.proof of the win.
we are looking forward to seeing the golden 40 oz trophy when it arrives.

brandl and host also made an appearance in the student show.
yay for red dots.

AND on top of all that...
miss rain harris had a lovely scroll piece in the Material Transcendence show.

Something New

Davis' studio

I like to tinker with the excess of my production. Organizing and searching for new places for all of these little pieces. If you look up tinker, you may find something like, "manipulating unskillfully or experimentally", and " to busy oneself with a thing without useful results". What is useful? In the image above I wanted to see how these branchlike forms looked when I positioned them in a way that they were not made for.
On top, fiddling with digitally manipulated, deformed clones.

Hey Guys. I just had a small show at The Clay Studio, Philadelphia. I was in Philly for the opening and i have to say the newly expanded space looks fantastic. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

Fluid Dynamics... Oregon Style.

i know what i did this summer.

had a show in kansas city.

screen printed on bricks at belden.

saw amazing things at the state fair.


played some derby.

won a cupcake eating contest.

started a love affair with reptile brains.

Summer....

I learned how to make lace. Now I can't stop.

Here are a few things I did this summer....

We attended two fairs this summer. This was the first time I have visited the Ohio State Fair and gee-whiz did we have a great time. It was a life changing event, Katie Parker left with a whole printing press, and I cant get that live stock smell out of the car.
The second event was the Renegade Craft Fair Chicago. Rain, Naomi, Katie, and I set up booths [ the blue ones in the pictures above ] and sold our work. Seriously thousands of people came out, and I think we left a good impression on Chicago. I told everyone about the Ohio State University Ceramics program, and a few had already read this blog.
In the studio I was trying to figure out how to fire this large porcelain bird and keep it from slumping over, but then realized how I could make the bending work to my advantage.

what I did this summer

Went to Germany, grew my beard long and went hunting

What I did this Summer

I made molds and left them in Dresden, Germany and Jindezhen, China

It looks really great. a bunch of schools with really top notch programs (none as great as OSU of course) and the article has great pictures and tons of helpful info.
